Hello,
I'm new to this forum but I'm a long time Fan!

I first read Haru-Sari in a book about great new manga artists.

I saw the forum might be dying here but I hope at least a few people read this because I wanted to share what I saw on CBS about Prosopagnosia, Face Blindness, that can affect 1 in 50 people.

I'll post part II.

I just saw a feature on CBS about this. I understand the author here has the same thing.

It was a really good show and focused on what Prosopagnosia is, how people can't recognize faces and how it would be for a normal person to have Prosopagnosia and not recognize people they know.

They say 1 in 50 people have it.

Here's the link to watch:

Just wanted to share...
Take Care!

Prosopagnosia certainly is a fascinating disorder! I'd love to see my favorite crime dramas (Criminal Minds, Law & Order SVU, etc) make an episode using it as a key plot device.

I have a small question, and sorry if I haven't worded it sensitively enough, but in Prosopagnosia, is it possible for one afflicted with the disorder to remember distinct facial structures ie full lips, mole positions, eye shapes and use that as a way to identify a person? Or would voices become the dominant trait to identify someone?

BTW, if would make a very interesting plot device in a crime show, such as either a victim having it, or a perpetrator having it, and such...or maybe even a reoccurring cast (as long as it is not played for derogatory laughs...).

I believe it said on the news that people with this affliction only recognize people by what they wear. Say if a person changes their hair style, the person with Prosopagnosia would not recognize them at all, even though they see them everyday.
Voices play a part too in recognizing people.
I think the easiest way to understand Prosopagnosia is to flip everyone's faces upside down and try to see who they are. It's very hard!

Depends on the severity/type. In the worst cases, you can't make ANYTHING out of a face. Can't even tell the gender. Those people rely on voices and other visual clues (such as gait, body type and mannerisms) to identify other people. Oh, and they don't know their own face either. D:

Mine is pretty mild, and I definitely look for distinctive traits when I meet someone that I'm expected to remember. I don't always succeed. Eye shapes are impossible. The funniest thing is that I can draw/paint their faces and capture their likeness quite well (not that I would know, but I have been told)... but I have to have the person in FRONT of me (i.e. cannot capture likeness from a photo), and I can't remember their face afterwards.
