I think it's because he doesn't want to fall in love with June. I mean, he's going to die and he knows it. I think it's because he doesn't want to hurt her. Whatever that means.
And maybe he doesn't want to fall in love at all? Oh, Chi-Min you scally wag!

Okay, just throwing an idea out here.....
Myabe he closed the door on seeing himself and June together, because he knows that they are both going to die (her much sooner) and it breaks his heart to think that it will never happen, so he doesn't want to see it, or entertain the idea to keep himself from getting hurt?
